Centre says, No proposal on free metro for women by the Delhi Government.

On Thursday, the Centre said they have not received any proposal regarding free metro rides for women. Delhi Government is yet to present the proposal for the plan. The free ride for women, stay a low lying question in the recent addressing of Lok Sabha. Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of State for the ministry of housing and urban affairs said, that they do not have any proposal with the context of free rides for women in Delhi Metro train. When asked about Delhi Government sending in any proposal for this plan, the minister again replied negative. Recently, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) announced that metro and DTC bus rides will be free for women, for which they are yet to present a proposal to the Centre.
The government is planning free travel for women in public transport and is going to bear the loss of revenue that Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, Delhi Transport Corporation and the cluster scheme buses would face due to this decision," said a Delhi government official. The official said that state transport minister Kailash Gahlot has held a meeting with senior officials of DMRC and asked them to submit a proposal on how they can facilitate free travel for women and what it would cost.
