Actor-turned-politician Sunny Deol has now appointed a representative who would look into the matters of his parliamentary constituency Gurdaspur. He has been appointed to “attend meetings” and follow “important matters” related to the city in his absence. With regard to his decision, Congress has started to slam his decision saying that Mr. Deol has disappointed voters. The representative appointed by him named as Gurpreet Singh Palheri is a writer by profession and this declaration was made by him through a letter signed by Sunny Deol which read, “I hereby appoint Gurpreet Singh Palheri, son of Supinder Singh, resident of village Palheri, district Mohali, Punjab, as my representative to attend meetings and follow important meetings pertaining to my Parliamentary constituency, Gurdaspur (Punjab), with concerned authorities.”
Mr. Palheri took this as an opportunity to ensure a “24-hour service to people of Gurdaspur.” However, this didn’t meet well with Congress leader Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa. He said, “Sunny Deol has betrayed voters of Gurdaspur constituency by appointing a representative. How can an MP appoint his representative? Voters have selected Sunny Deol as an MP, not his representative.” Sunny Deol is attending Parliamentary Session nowadays and representing Gurdaspur. However, he lives in Mumbai. Deol has shouldered responsibilities of the constituency which has earlier been four times represented by late actor Vinod Khanna in 1998, 1999, 2004 and 2014 on behalf of the BJP.
