J&K: Anantnag Terrorist Encounter, one Army Personnel Killed

Another terrorist encounter killed a soldier in Anantnag area in Jammu and Kashmir. Today’s encounter took place a day after an Army Convoy was targeted with an improvised explosive device Phulvama.
Two terrorists, including the man who owned the explosive carrying car used in the Phulwama attack. Based on the inputs of the intelligence agencies, the security forces carried out intensive search operation in the area. The operation soon turned into an open fire encounter leading to the death of one of the Army personnel.
Today’s casualty of the Army personnel, is the tenth casualty suffered by the security forces in five days. Following this week, five central Reserve police Force personnel and a policeman were killed in an attack on a convoy in Phulwama. and the same day Army Major Ketan Sharma was martyred in an encounter in Anantnag.
The 46-day annual pilgrimage to amaranth is schedule to start from two routes, of which one passes from Anantnag. The attack on the CPRF men last week took place amid the state administration preparing for the pilgrimage.
Monday’s encounter location is 27 km away from the place where the CPRF men were attacked by a suicide bomber of Pakistan’s Jaish-e-Mohammed in February.
Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh and the Chief of Army General Bipin Rawat will pay tribute to Major Ketan Sharma who was martyred in the Monday’s encounter in Anantnag.
