Aviation Watchdog has reported that India has decided to avoid Iranian Airspace. On 22 June, a US military drone was shot down by Iran in its airspace.Followed by this the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) warned that commercial aircraft can also be mistakenly targeted in the Iranian airspace. Thus, between the rising  tensions between the US and Iran, India's aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said,”Indian airlines have decided to avoid the ‘affected part of the Iranian airspace’ and reroute their flight ‘suitably’ .”

However, on Friday, America’s aviation regulator Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a Notice prohibiting the US aircraft from operating over the area of the Tehran Flight Information Region until further notice because of “increased military activities and political tensions".
In India all aviation operators with DGCA have decided to avoid a part of Iranian Airspace for ensuring safer travel for the passengers. The DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) tweeted ,”They will re-route flights suitably.”

“No substantial effect on Air India flights. Details being worked out for rerouting on incoming flights,”said Air India’s Chairman Ashwani Lohani after the decision. Majority of Pakistani airspace has been closed for Indian airlines ever since the February 26,Balakot airstrike. The decision of avoiding Iranian airspace will further disturb the international flight routes for  Middle-East and Europe and the US.After Balakot strike, Air India had to either re-route, merge or suspend many of the international flights that connected India with Europe and America.

With the shot down of a US military drone by Iran in its airspace, major airlines around the world have decided to reroute their aircraft routes.Etihad Airways have decided to suspend operations over Iranian airspace in the Gulf Of Oman and the Straits of Hormuz ,and use the alternative flight routes to and from Abu Dhabi until further notice
