US President Donald Trump congratulated Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for winning the India Lok Sabha Elections 2019. Trump tweeted, "Just spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi where I congratulated him on his big political victory. He is a great man and leader for thr people of India- they are lucky to have him."
Later,speaking to the reporters at South Lawn, he expressed how he congratulated the PM and gave heartful regards on the behalf of the USA. He said Modi is a friend of his and they have good relationship with India.
The Bhartiya Janata Party won 303 seats out of the total of 543 Lok Sabha seats against their opponent Indian National Congress Party who managed to secure only 52 seats.
The White House confirmed that the leaders fixed G-20 meeting in the city of Osaka in Japan on the phone when Trump called Modi to congratulate him. The meeting is fixed on 28th of June, 2019. US, India and Japan will hold a trilateral meeting to persue their shared vision for a free and open Indo Pacific.
