One of the modest causes of all death tolls over the years has been the deaths due to the cardiac arrest caused by the lack of oxygen around the cave shine area resulting in regular health advisories and precautions from Shri Amarnath Shrine Board to the pilgrims.

The Board has ensured that all pilgrims have to get a fitness certificate issued from a doctor before they get on the pilgrimage journey of the shrine situated at a height of 3,888 meters.
