As of date, Delhi Metro is spread over 373 km with 271 stations. With the rolling out of this financial year's budget, Delhi metro's will be moving to Phase IV. On 5 July 2019, the Union Budget was presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. In this second consecutive rule of Modi's government a total of Rs. 414.70 crore has been allocated for the expansion of Delhi Metro throughout the capital (NCR).The current metro routes connect Delhi internally seamlessly. Certain routes also dot together far-flung regions of NCR. The last budget gave in the sum of only Rs. 50 crore as there were no projects planned for the year.Excluding this sum, the budget has also sanctioned a sum of Rs. 19,152 crore for the Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS).
A sum of Rs. 17,713.93 has been sanctioned by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs for the development of metro all over the country.
While the cheque of Rs. 414.70 crore is given for the expansion of the metro network in areas of Ghaziabad and Noida. Earlier this year in March, the last section of the metro was made operational. It was the extension of Delhi Metro Blue Line namely - Noida City Centre - Noida Electronic City section. Recently Delhi Metro also became the first ever metro project to run the power generated from a waste-to-energy plant.
