Due to the severe dust storm, Delhi airport halted its flights for almost an hour.
Indira Gandhi airport, Delhi had to halt its flights for about an hour. Flights in the air were diverted, as the dust storm starting the havoc. It does not only blow over the national capital, but also the neighbourings.
The storm also brought some relief from the over hot summers. An immediate drop in temperature was noted because of it. On Monday the mercury touched 48 degrees in Delhi, creating a record of being the hottest day in June.
"Earlier, (dry summer) wind used to come from the western side of Rajasthan. However, the direction of the wind has changed. As a result, we have witnessed a temperature fall of two-three degrees in all the North Indian states. It is expected to continue for the next three days and there will be a full respite to the heat wave in the region,"
a senior Met department official told news agency ANI.
There was a prediction by the weather department, that from Tuesday the temperature will dip. Skymet, a private weatherr agency also predicted for rain in across Delhi - NCR.
Vice President of Skymet, Mahesh Palawat, said in a tweet that the national capital's temperature dropped by seven degrees in a span of just half an hour.
"At 18.30 it was 40, dropped to 33 degrees at 19.00 hours. All thanks to #Duststorm and #rain,"
he tweeted.
As Vayu cyclone hits the ports of Gujarat, the effect of it will be seen with another dip in temperature.
''Definitely, just the way Delhi is getting affected by the western disturbances, Cyclone Vayu will have an impact on the weather conditions. However, a dust storm or thunderstorm can be predicted in the upcoming days in the northern region,"
he was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
The country is coping with one of the hottest summers this year. Delhi and North India is suffering from brutal heat this season which might get a little lowered in coming days.
Another state which is burning from these summers is Rajasthan. The temperature is rocketing to almost 50 degrees. Churu has been the hottest spot for these few days.
Region of India are 11 out of 15 of the world's hottest places currently.
