Delhi bus, on Yamuna Expressway falls into drain. 29 dead.

On Monday morning a bus moving from Delhi to Lucknow fell into a drain. The incident took place near Agra. The UP Roadways bus was near Agra when it met with the accident.

"Awadh bus depot's Janrath Expressway Roadways bus no UP33 AT5877 lost control on Yamuna Expressway and fell in 'jharna nala' near Kuberpur," UP Police said in a tweet.

 
 

As per the police insiders, the bus started from Alambagh bus station in Lucknow. The journey started at 10 pm on Sunday. The bus at around 3:30 am had crossed the Lucknow Expressway and Inner Ring Road. After another hour of driving, at 4:30 am the driver apparently fell asleep and lost control over the bus which led to the accident.  The bus was moving at a high speed and slipped off the expressway to a 30-foot-deep ' Jharna Nullah '. The bus was partially submerged when people from the nearby village - Baghel That reached the accident site. There they safely evacuated 20 passengers. Followed to which the police arrived, and took the passengers to hospital in ambulances.

 

 

The bulldozers and cranes arrived on the scene after almost 2 hours. The partially submerged bus was then pulled out and cut apart to get the remaining passengers  out. However, they all had died by then.
The accident took away 29 lives including a woman and a child. The authorities are trying to get the body identified.

"The incident took place around 4:30 am. The driver probably dozed off and the speeding bus broke our barrier and fell into the drain. Search operations are underway,"Agra District Magistrate NG Ravi Kumar told media
 
 

Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of Uttar  Pradesh have sent  out his condolences with the expression of his grief on the lives lost. He has ordered the DM and SSP to provide every possible medical attention required by the injured.An inquiry has been ordered on the accident by UP CM. The committee includes transport commissioner, divisional commissioner. and IG Agra. The report needs to state the reason for the accident, and have to be submitted within a span of 24 hours.  Another report is also sanctioned with long-term solutions to avoid such an accident.Rs. 5 Lakh will be given to the family of the deceased as an ex-gratia.

 
 
Sachin Pilot, Congress leaders have also expressed grief, for which his tweeted the following
 
"I pay condolences to the families of those killed in the accident. May God give peace to deceased and quick recovery to those injured."
Piyush Goyal, Union railways minister, tweeted.
 
"Pained by accident on Delhi-Agra expressway. May God give strength to the kind of the deceased, my condolences with the families. I pray for speedy recovery of those injured,"
