A building full tution classes got caught up with fire, killed 19 and injured 20 other students.
Tuition centre in western city of Surat, Gujarat was full of students when it started burning down. Students were seen jumping from the building, fighting against the black smoke. Most of victims injured, or dead were teenager students studying in the tution.
The cause of fire is still to discoveries, but it blazed up so much because of the material used in the roofs of classrooms. Also, the classes were fully packed.
A total number of 20 students is recorded for being severely injured. They are being treated in the hospital in Gujarat.
“The students lost their life both because of the fire and jumping out of the building," Deepak Sapthaley, a local fire official”
told AFP.
The students who unfortunately got engulfed by the fire are all young and below the age of 20 years. They could not escape the fire, or the building because the fire started near the staircase.
The Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted about the accident, offering condolences. He also have called the authorities to assist in every possible way.
“Extremely anguished by the fire tragedy in Surat. My thoughts are with bereaved families. May the injured recover quickly. Have asked the Gujarat Government and local authorities to provide all possible assistance to those affected.”
Chief Minister of Gujarat, Vijay Rupani has asked to set in an inquiry for the same, said the office spokesperson. The team is supposed to submit the report within 3 days.
