TV actor Karan Oberoi arrested for Raping , Blackmailing Woman

Television actor Karan Oberoi who is known for his famous role in the serial Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin has been allegedly charged with rape. The actor was recently arrested by the police in connection to the alleged rape case, reports ANI. Based on the woman's complaint, Karan Oberoi was arrested on Sunday and booked under Indian Penal Code Sections 376 (rape) and 384 (extortion), senior inspector Shailesh Pasalwad said.
The actor allegedly raped the woman on the pretext of marrying her, the police said.
"Karan Oberoi not only raped the woman and filmed the act but also demanded money from her threatening to release the video if she did not pay up," police official said quoting the FIR that was registered at Oshiwara Police Station.
The woman had in October 2018 filed a non-cognisable complaint (NC) against the actor accusing him of using her financially, while Karan too filed a complaint against her for mental harassment ten days prior to her complaint, reports The Time of India.
Karan Oberoi's sister Vani Oberoi lashes out at the woman who has accused her brother of rape. She recounts the incident where Karan and the woman in question had several spats and (Vani) involved herself to help her brother out . Vani tells that about 2 years ago, Karan called her to inform that a woman was harassing him constantly. When she went down to his residence to talk to him about this , she saw the woman was calling him incessantly. When she (Vani) answered the call , the woman was shocked and questioned why she was answering Karan's phone. She mocked at Karan for hiding behind her (Vani) and called him a kid when Vani tried to explain her calmly that she can't force anyone to love her. The woman also started cursing her using derogatives.After hanging up the call , she advised Karan to install CCTV cameras at his door outside .
In October 2018 , Karan called Vani to tell that the woman had made an NC against him, accusing him for extortion.They decided they should also file an NC against her for harrasment.
Vani saya the woman is lying and it is a very calculated charge.She questions that if she was raped before filing the NC , why didn't she complain at the time of her NC only ? She says she will put some charges against her and fight back once Karan comes out of jail .
Karan Oberoi started his career with Mahesh Bhatt's TV show Swabhimaan wherein he was cast opposite Rinku Karamakar. He also starred in Saaya, Dishayen, Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahi among other shows.
