A technical snag was observed in launch vehicle system at 1 hour before the launch. As a measure of abundant precaution, #Chandrayaan2 launch has been called off for today. Revised launch date will be announced later.

— ISRO (@isro) July 14, 2019  Indian would have been the fourth country after USSR, US, China to land on the moon. Provided the GSLV MKIII launch system would have lifted the Chandrayaan-2 and the lunar craft without a glitch. The estimated landing date was September 6-7.

The calling off of the mission is a setback to ISRO as well as India. President Ram Nath Kovind came to witness the launch in Sriharikota. ISRO, however, does not want to take any chance as it has spent almost Rs 1,000 crore on the project. In April this year, Israel’s Beresheet mission failed and their lunar craft crash-landed on moon. Subsequently, ISRO postponed its launch of Chandrayaan-2 from April to July to continue with further researches. India has to further wait for this prestigious day until ISRO announces the new dates.
