DR. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar


Today a great leader died and He is Bharat Ratna DR. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar. He is also known as Babasaheb Ambedkar, was born on 14 April 1891 in Mhow, central province, British India. Now Bhim Janamabhoomi, Ambedkar Nagar, Indore district, Madhya Pradesh, India. 


He was born as 14 children of Ramji maloji sakpal and Bhimbai sakpal and they belonged to a Marathi family .later they moved to another place. His mother died shortly after the birth of Bhimrao and he had 2 brothers Ananda Rao, Balaram, and 2 sisters Manjula and Tulsa. They were not allowed to sit on benches and they were from the Lower caste and not allowed to drink water he describes in his poem "No peon, No Water" because his peon gave him water. In 1897 Ambedkar family moved to Mumbai where Ambedkar became the only one untouchable enrolled in Elephistone High school. When he was 15 years old married 9 years old girl rambai.In 1907 he passed the matriculation exam and entered Elephistone College and he became the first person to enter college from the Mahara caste. When he passed the 4th class exam at the district level the people there thought he has reached a great level and celebrated it as a festival.


In 1912 he obtained a degree in economics and political science from Bombay University. In 1913, Ambedkar moved to the United States at the age of 22. He had been awarded a Baroda State Scholarship of £11.50 (Sterling) per month for three years under a scheme established by Sayajirao Gaekwad III(Gaekwad of Baroda) that was designed to provide opportunities for postgraduate education at Columbia University in New York City. Soon after arriving there, he settled in rooms at Livingston Hall with Naval Bhathena, a Parsi who was to be a lifelong friend. He passed his M.A. exam in June 1915, majoring in Economics, and other subjects of Sociology, History, Philosophy, and Anthropology. He presented a thesis,  Ambedkar was influenced by John Dewey and his work on democracy. He studies postgraduate at London school of University.


In 1917 he returned because his Scholarship was ended. His ship was sunk by German and he got the opportunity and they gave him 4 years of opportunity to complete his thesis and completed his master's degree in 1921. His thesis was on " The problem of rupee: it's original and solution". The same year he was called to the Bar by Gray's Inn. His third and fourth Doctorates (LL.D, Columbia, 1952 and D.Litt., Osmania, 1953) were conferred at honoris causa. He was opposed by the upper caste people of barod because they give scholarship for him. He joined the political party "Independent Labor Party" and "Schedule Caste federation party". He was the founder of the " Independent Labour party" in 1936. He is known as the Father of the "Indian Constitution". He plays the main role in all nation's development .and if all are sitting in parliament it is because of Ambedkar on Poona pact. All leaders refused to give or sit lower caste person member of parliament.


He wrote many books: Castes in India: Their Mechanism, Genesis and Development Mook Nayak (weekly),  The Problem of the Rupee: Its origin and its solution, Bahishkrut Bharat Janta, The Annihilation of CasteFederation Versus Freedom, Thoughts on Pakistan, Ranade, Gandhi and Jina, Mr. Gandhi and Emancipation of Untouchables, What Congress and Gandhi have done to the Untouchables,  Pakistan Or Partition Of India, State and Minorities, Who were the Shudras, Maharashtra as a Linguistic Province, The Untouchables, Buddha Or Karl Marx, The Buddha and his Dhamma, Riddles in Hinduism, Manu and the Shudras. Unfortunately, he died on 6 December 1956.
