Former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi has been tested positive for COVID-19. He revealed this through a tweet where he asked his fans and well-wishers to keep him in their prayers and ended his post with ‘hope not out’. Afridi tweeted, “I’ve been feeling unwell since Thursday; my body had been aching badly. I’ve been tested and unfortunately, I’m COVID positive. Need prayers for a speedy recovery, InshaAllah.”
Shahid Afridi is the third Pakistani cricketer to be tested positive for the novel viruses after Taufeeq Umar and Zafar Sarfaraz. However, Umar recovered after 14 days of self-isolation at home but Sarfaraz was tested positive last month after which he underwent another test after 14 days which came out to be negative in the first week of June.
In the group of all cricketers, Scotland’s Majid Haq and South Africa’s Solo Nqweni are other cricketers who have been tested positive for the same. It’s now Shahid Afridi who has been tested positive. He has been doing social work during the lockdown to control the spread of COVID-19 via the “Shahid Afridi Foundation.”
Shahid Afridi also asked Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh to urge people to donate in his foundation but as his video went viral for giving out disrespecting comments on India and to PM Narendra Modi then Yuvraj Singh tweeted that he regretted contributing to Afridi’s foundation.
