6 Year Boy Dies after Falling in Open Gutter in Nala sopara, Mumbai


MUMBAI: From the past three days there is heavy rainfall in Mumbai and in suburban areas, because of that at several areas in Mumbai the drains and gutters have been kept open due to waterlogging which is very dangerous for the local people and children. On Thursday In Mumbai, a six-year-old boy found dead after falling in an open gutter in Mumbai's Nala Sopara area. The incident happened because of heavy rainfall from the last two days at several places in Mumbai. The boy named Abubakar Sheikh who lived in Nala Sopara's Santosh Bhavan area fell into an open drain on Wednesday evening. The search operation was started on Wednesday night as he went missing. The search operation was continued till Thursday.


The Police team was also involved in the search of the boy and they found the body of the boy. This is not the first case happening in Mumbai that young children falling in open drains and gutters. The drains kept open due to very heavy rainfall in Mumbai Suburbs and Palghar District. In July the incident like this happened in Mumbai Malad with an 18-month boy, Divyansh Singh, who fell into an open stormwater drain at Ambedkar Chowk area, was found untraceable for more than 140 hours. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has been issued an Orange alert in the city and suburbs, asking all to remain prepared. The government has also declared a holiday for school and junior colleges on Thursday. The impact of rain was also seen on Airline Around 20 flights have been canceled. Around 300 other flights stand delayed over heavy rainfall. The Railways were also stopped working as there was waterlogging to Railway Stations in Mumbai.
