I cannot stress enough how generalizing has caused a lot of people to stop believing, trying or even how it has contributed in lowering their self-esteem and confidence. It is so sad that most people who are doing this don’t even know how much it affects other people.
You can’t generalize people just because that is what you know and heard.
There is no just one way on how things can be or should be done in life. Just because that is what you know doesn’t mean everyone is that way and should be that way.
Its so sad how people can start generalizing others because of their weight, height, where they are from, their skin color or even their culture.
Whatever the person is on the outside, that doesn’t define who they are on the inside. You cant be going around and defining people basing on what you see on the outside or where they are from. If you want to know someone, take the time to find out how they are on the inside;their character.
And sometimes you could be the one that is doing the generalizing to yourself because of what you see and heard. You cannot define yourself based on the other person’s findings. You and only you know what is inside of you. Other people just see the outside. They see what you decide to show them. Whatever kind of a person you want to be is up to you. The only person you can compare yourself with is actually yourself. Who are you, what do you want to be and what you are going to do to be that person.
So you can look around and figure out if you are the one generalizing yourself or if other people are generalizing you. The solution to all this is you. The change that you want can be decided by you.
If you are also in the category of generalizing others, then I think you should stop doing that. Every person is an individual and it’s not what’s on the outside that matters, it's what’s on the inside that matters.
