People Affected by Flood Water in Bihar

Humans are facing various problems either it is drought, flood, COVID-19, locust plague earthquake, or climate change. We all have contributed our part in the exploitation of nature and loss of biodiversity. And now we are facing the crisis because one day we are supposed to get what we did with the environment. One of the outcomes of exploitation has shown in Bihar as 24.5 lakh people are affected due to flood water in 11 districts. Darbhanga is the worst affected as 8.87 lakh people of this district have been displaced along with East Champaran and Muzaffarpur where 7 lakh and 3.2 lakh have been displaced.

Although Indian air force helicopters started airdropping operation of food packets for people who were impacted and disaster management have been providing relief packets including flattened rice (2.5 kg), gram (1 kg), jaggery (half kg), Matchbox and a packet of candles through boats and other means. Despite the relief, people are still suffering and have been forced to leave their home and they are not getting drinking water, several houses have been washed away by the Kosi river. We are already facing COVID-19 pandemic due to which flood relief work has been challenging. Apart from this, the river Bagmati, Bushi Gandak, Kamlabalan, Khiroi, and Ghaghase are also above the danger level. The water level of River Ganga had also increased. This is the real challenge for the state to manage everything with safety.
