Orange alert issued in Delhi due to predicted heavy rainfall

An orange alert has been flagged over Delhi. The weather department has predicted heavy rainfall this week in the national capital because of which the alert is being announced. As per the weather office, Delhi is most likely to be hit by heavy rainfall on Thursday and Friday other authorities have also been ringed about this for taking every necessary action. The ring has been sound to Haryana also. Delhi may be hit by rain today also, said the weather office.

"Generally cloudy skies and light rain is expected today. The maximum temperature may settle at 36 degrees Celsius"
The cloudy and rainy weather is likely to stick to Delhi till Sunday. The humidity levels have also been spiked after the overnight showers. The minimum temperature recorded was
 "at 28.2 degree Celsius at 8.30 a,, a notch above normal while the humidity level was at 83%" a MeT department official was quoted as saying.
On Monday, the Indian Meteorological Department said that the country is currently facing below-average rainfall this year.
"If you take  an average of 30 to 40 years, compared to say a 100 years of normal rainfall, we are passing through a below-normal rainfall"said Sivananda Pai, IMD climate research chief.
Mr. Pai, also informed that the numbers of average rainfall can shift and change over the decades because of natural variability


"we can't ignore the linkages to climate change" India is battling with the severe water crisis and climate change is making it worse.
