India’s Coronavirus Cases Cross 3 Lakh Tally | COVID-19

There is a surge in cases after the “Unlock 1” plan by the central government. Since the day of unlocking commencement, the cases are rising rapidly and now India has crossed the 3 Lakh mark as well. India is now at number 4 in a list of worst-hit nations by COVID-19. India has acquired this place by crossing the UK’s tally of cases. The cases rose to 2,903 today to reach the mark of 300,438. In these numbers, the maximum cases are from Maharashtra with 97,648 followed by Tamil Nadu with 40,698 and Delhi with 34,687.

The death count also rose to 8,498 with a single-day record spike of 396 fatalities.  However, the death rate is slow in India but the rise in cases is occurring at an accelerating rate. This surge is seen days after Unlock-1 announced. In this unlock, the shops re-opened, domestic flights are functional, religious places, restaurants, hotels, and offices got opened. In this way, people started coming out and came in contact with people and places that have been a reason behind the spike in cases.

The Health Ministry has said, India’s recovery rate - the number of patients who have successfully fought the viral illness - stood at 49.47 percent this morning and 147,195 people have recovered. The number of recoveries is more than the active cases for the second consecutive day which is a positive sign but the rise in the number of cases is still concerning.
