India has now become the third-worst hit nation from coronavirus pandemic. It has taken around four days for India to record one lakh new Covid-19 cases. The country crossed the 6 lakh mark on July 2 and it took 110 days to cross one lakh cases.
Of the total 6 lakh cases, 2.5 lakh are active cases and 19,693 are deaths linked to the virus. The number of people to have successfully recovered from the infectious COVID-19 virus is around 4.24 lakh. More than 20,000 new cases reported every day since July 3 and over 24,000 cases detected in each of the past two which led India to cross 1 lakh corona cases in just 4 days leading to the 7 lakh tally.
At this point, the United States and Brazil are the only ones ahead of India in reported COVID-19 cases, the US has nearly 29 lakh cases while Brazil has a little over 16 lakh cases.
Within India, Maharashtra is the worst-hit state by the virus with more than 2 lakh cases. In the second position in Tamil Nadu with 1.11 lakh and national capital Delhi is in the third position with more than 99,000 Covid-19 cases.
