In an interview with ABP News, the former Indian Cricket Captain said, "I don’t know when I will retire. But a lot of people want me to retire before tomorrow’s game (against Sri Lanka),”.
This clearly tells us the favorite cricketer has no intention to retire in the near future. However, MS Dhoni has been criticized a lot lately for his bad performance lately, especially in the World Cup. In a match against England in World Cup 2019, he was blamed to lack intent to make India win. India lost by 31 runs. Also, Dhoni is having the worst run rate in this World Cup for which he's criticized by most of the experienced cricketers and public as well.
Former Indian legend cricketers like Saurav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar are unhappy with his performance, especially in the match against England. Dhoni said that he knows many of the people wanted him to stop playing before the match against Sri Lanka. However, he didn't indicate any of the team members or coaches. “You never know with MS Dhoni. But it is unlikely that he will continue to play for India after this World Cup. But since his decisions to quit captaincy from the three formats have been taken so suddenly, it is very difficult to predict at the moment,” a senior BCCI official told PTI.
