40,000 doctors boycotted work for supporting their colleagues in West Bengal

In the support of their agitating colleagues in West Bengal,more than 40,000 doctors in Maharashtra are boycotting their work on Monday as a part of a strike call given by their apex body Indian Medical Association(IMA).Doctors from various government and private hospitals in Maharashtra are mainly boycotting the OPD(Out-Patient-Department)and other unimportant health services.
An IMA official said "The emergency services of the hospital will not be affected and even those who are already admitted in hospital will be provided with all services and necessary attention. However we have decided to support the doctors in West Bengal who are protesting against their CM Mamata Banerjee."
The medical body launched a four-day nationwide protest from Friday to Tuesday and wrote a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, to check violence against the health care workers and to have a look in this matter as soon as possible.
