Resignations are on the free for Congress
Rahul Gandhi the earlier PM face for the Congress party gets defeated in the constituency that has been with his family for four decades. Smriti Irani beats Gandhi by a margin of over 55,000 votes. Amethi BJP win came as a huge shock to the Gandhi supporters as Rahul has been the MP from Amethi since 2004. Besides leading a swindle election campaign that failed to win over voters, also lost his traditional constituency, Amethi. The big analysis of Mrs. Irani win in Amethi has been pointed to the pertinacity of her work in the region which has tremendously worked in her favor and led to her win. Rahul Gandhi conceded defeat by congratulating Irani to “nurture with love” the constituency of which his family has been a part from quite a long time.
To this Gandhi defeat in Amethi, its whole soul responsibility has been taken by Congress district Amethi President, Yogendra Mishra. Mr. Mishra in his resignation letter said that it was his responsibility to ensure Congress' victory in Amethi and he had failed to accomplish the task. Mishra was given the post of Amethi district President to ensure the work done by Congress in the region and also to look after the facets of winning in the long throne Congress constituency. Hence, he felt that he should take moral responsibility for the same.
Earlier on the day, after looking forward to the election results eyeing over Congress win over just 1 seat out of 80 in UP, Uttar Pradesh Congress President Raj Babbar also offered to resign claiming to own the moral responsibility for such poor performance in the state. The discussions over such resignations coming one after another will be done after Congress Working Committee meeting. Despite an intense campaign by Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Rahul Gandhi's sister and general secretary tasked with the campaign in UP along with Jyotiraditya Scindia. The only seat the party kept was Sonia Gandhi's Raebareli. Even Karnataka and Odisha uprooted Congress leading to which the party's Karnataka campaign manager H K Patil, and Odisha chief Niranjan Patnaik have also resigned.
The discussions over such resignations are specultaing over the hints that Rahul Gandhi might also resign from the party president’s position. But, final says will be heard only in the Congress Working Committee meeting to be held on 25th May’19.
