Mumbai-Nagpur Samruddhi Expressway will eat more than 2 lakh trees

According to the report of the expressway building project, which was presented on June 3 depicts that from 2,76,050 trees, 1,53,744 have already been cut down amd this id the one of the most grave loss of green trees which covered a huge area of forest. The 701km Mumbai-Nagpur Samruddhi Expressway will eat more than 2 lakh trees. The Expressway is expected to be built by 2021, even the work has begun in 16 locations.
The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation(MSRDC) promises that it would plant 8 lakh trees to compensate for lossog 2 lakh trees. The monitoring of trees will be done for seven years to ensure that the plants survive and this task of monitoring will be carried out by -The Wild Sanctuary of India, The Botanical Survey of India and the Forest Department.As per the rules 583 trees should be planted every 1 km but we will take more efforts and plant up to 650 trees. We have started planning an idea about plantation and will start from next monsoon,said the managing director and chariman of MSRDC.
