Dimple Kapadia starrer, Christopher Nolan’s “Tenet” to be shot in Mumbai
Christopher Nolan is likely to visit Mumbai in Mid-September to shoot portions of his new film, Tenet. Tenet is set to become Dimple Kapadia’s Hollywood debut. The Dunkirk director, Nolan was in Mumbai last year for an event hosted by Film Heritage Foundation, for the need of promoting the use, restoration and preservation of films. During his stay, he decided to shoot some part of the film in Mumbai mostly in South Mumbai near Gateway of India, Taj Hotel and the Colaba market.
According to the brief about the movie, Dimple is likely to play a role of 60-year old lady who has crucial role in the narrative. The shooting schedule in Mumbai is likely to be of seven to eight days which will mostly focus on a major chasing sequence. Tenet is said to be an international espionage drama, shot across seven countries including US, Estonia, Italy, the UK and others apart from India. Tenet is a big film and Dimple’s Hollywood debut for which she was pretty “hesitant” in the beginning. The actor’s talent manager, Purvi Lavigia Vats told PTI, “We suggested her name for this film to them. Following which, I brought this up to her. She was initially a bit hesitant as she did not have an idea about her role in detail. I just briefed her. She got interested and taped her audition. This is the first time she auditioned for the film.” Purvi added that they (team of Tenet) was “interested” in meeting her and wanted to “know more about her” so they recently visited Mumbai.
Tenet was Dimple’s first audition as in Bollywood she never auditioned for her roles came up to her on own for she marked her presence in Bollywood by her acting skills. She is well known for her film Rudaali, for which she received a National Award for Best Actress. Her other notable films include Bobby, Saagar, Lekin, Dil Chahta Hai, Being Cyrus, Finding Fanny and others. Nolan’s Tenet is surely to become Dimple’s big clutch over films. She will feature besides Robert Pattinson, Aaron-Taylor Johnson, Kenneth Branagh, Clemence Poesy, Michael Caine, John David Washington and Elizabeth Debicki. Tenet is a follow up of Nolan’s Oscar nominated war drama “Dunkirk”.
