AB de Villiers offered to return on the field for this world cup season, but it got denied.

Former batsman from the team of South Africa, AB de Villiers offered  to reverse his retirement, and return to playing for his team, but unfortunately got turned down.

According to the reports from  ESPNcricinfo, the offer was made in May. De Villiers put forth this offer just a day before the selectors were to release the list of squads 15 player for this tournament.

However, the plan was denied by the management. As they thought it would be unfair for the players who have been playing and putting efforts since he retired.

AB also reached to Faf du Plessis, team's skipper. He was also in touch with head coach Ottis Gibson and the convenor of selectors Linda Londi, and expressed his wish to reverse his retirement and return to team for the world cup. However, his wish was turned down.

There are two major reasons for turning this all time favourite player. First being that he retired a year ago in May and now can not qualify for the selection. As he had not played either domestic or international cricket for an entire year now which a requirement for selection. Second reason is that it is not fair for the players who had been performing in  his absence. The decision will sound biased .

AB de Villiers called retirement to his 14 year long international career, saying that he is "tired" and " running out of gas". He stopped playing after 2018's May.

However the matches played by the team have not been that good, as South Africa has lost all 3 matches till now. In order to reach the semi-finals South Africa have to win all 6 matches lined up now. One of those match is going to be on Monday against West Indies.
