Spider Man Far From Home Review: Another Blockbuster for MCU, while Malaal falters at the box office

Sony and Marvel's latest offering Spider-Man: Far From Home has opened strongly at the box office. The film which stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker, Samuel.L.Jackson as Nick Fury and Jake Gyllenhaal as Mysterio, has delivered a record-breaking opening of $180 million at the box office. The film which released on 4th July on the occasion of American Independence Day had the advantage of 4 day weekend i.e 4th of July was a Thursday. and performed exceeding expectations.

 

It also opened strongly at the Indian box office with a 10.5 crore opening day and till date has collected 55.25 crores at the Indian box office. The film's 6 day total is $603 million with $211 million coming from the U.S alone. Positive reviews, Jake Gyllenhaal's performance as Mysterio and being the concluding film of the Infinity Saga of the MCU Far from Home ticked all the boxes to be a super commercial success.

 

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's production Malaal released alongside Spider-Man: Far From Home at the box office. The film which starred debutantes, Meezaan Jaffrey and Sharmin Sehgal performed dismally at the box office, With the first-day collection being 50 lakhs, the film has only collected close to 2.5 crores till date. With zero promotional buzz and middling reviews, Malaal has bellyflopped at the box office

 

Kabir Singh has turned out to be the highest grossing 'A' rated film while Article 15 has emerged as a decent commercial success at the box office. The final collections to date are

Kabir Singh - 241 crores  [60 crores (BUDGET)]

Article 15 - 48.5 crores  [25 crores (BUDGET)]

With Super 30 releasing this week, there will be an interesting mix of films to look out for in cinemas.
