1. Shimla Summer Festival: The capital and heart of Himachal Pradesh, Shimla turns out with more buzzing with the arrival of its annual summer festival. During this June of the year, the city experiences an influx of tourists, making the event more successful. There are folk music, dance, shows, and other such events to keep the attendees amused and entertained without making them tired. The Shimla Summer Festival is being celebrated since the ’60s, and the enthusiasm hasn’t faded since that era. It is one of the most popular Hindu Summer festivals in June. 2. Rath Yatra: The Puri Rath Yatra is among the most-awaited Hindu festivals in the month of June. Being celebrated in one of the four ‘Chardham’ pilgrimage spots in the country (Jagannath Temple), the festival is all about the colorful processions of the Hindu deities, placed on chariots (Ratha). The procession starts from Jagannath Temple, carrying idols of Lord Jagannath with his siblings Subhadra and Balabhadra; and later concludes and end up in the Gundicha Temple. Along the route, devotees and the saints gather to chant and sing praising the almighty Jagannath. The festival date may vary yearly (taking place in June or July). Where: Orissa 2019 dates: 4th July
3. Ramadan And Eid Ul-Fitr: A significant and most awaited festival for the followers of Islam, Ramadan means month-long fasting (feasting just once, called Iftar) which begins in May and ends up with the grand celebration of Eid ul-Fitr in the month of June. During this time of the month, the streets of India are decked up and you get to taste some of the most delicious sweets, meat dishes, and biryanis. This is among the best and most celebrated festivals in June in India which is celebrated all across the country, but there are some places where you’ll get to see the festival in full swing; such as Old Delhi, and Lucknow, Kozhikode (Kerala), Hyderabad. 4. Sao Joao Feast Of St John: Sao Joao Feast of St John the Baptist has so many highlights and it gives another strong reason to visit one of the most visiting region, Goa. The festival is celebrated through community dances, cultural activities and even grabbing feni from the ponds and streams by diving in. As the name suggests itself, the festival is dedicated to St John the Baptist and is complemented with vibrantly-colored costumes and clothes, feni and so much more. Even the boats are decorated by the local community to make everything look colored and beautiful. It is one of the best religious festivals taking place in the month of June.
