The 72nd edition of the French Riviera’s premiere film festival returned this year with the biggest lineup. The Cannes Film Festival is considered to be the magnum opus of movie awards. Along with four women directors pining after the prize after Cate Blanchett’s protest against less representation. Terrence Malick marked his return with A Hidden Life. However, Pedro Almodóvar, Penelope Cruz and Antonio Banderas- the most celebrated trio returned with Pain and Glory.

 

French filmmaker Céline Sciamma entered with Portrait of a Lady on Fire. Furthermore, this year also saw Bollywood representation with Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Kangana Ranaut gracing the carpet.
