After the norms created an interesting curiosity among the public, had these norms been laid earlier Ravi Shastri, the current head coach could have never made it to that post. Post Anil Kumble and Virat Kohli conflict, Kumble was removed. In June 2016, after the removal of Kumble, Ravi Shastri who was earlier a player of the Indian cricket team from 1982-1992, and had retired from it and had joined as a cricket broadcaster.

However, under the coaching reign of Duncan Fletcher, Ravi Shastri was appointed as the team director in the mid-England tour after which he was appointed as the head coach of team India. The present rules and norms regarding the previous coaching experiences would have been trouble if it was laid earlier and Ravi Shastri could never have made it to the position. The present norm clearly says the applicant must have two years of experience as head coach for a full member test playing nation or as the head coach of an associate member/IPL or equivalent international leagues/first-class teams/national A teams for a minimum three years.

Ravi Shastri after being appointed as the head coach has been able to climb the tops of the test rankings in Australia. But, have miserably failed in World Cup 2015, World cup T20 2016 and presently World Cup 2019. Shastri is one of the strong contenders, now it is the matter of time to see if he actually repeats his term for the next two years or not!
