The Dutch side won their first trophy in five years after an emphatic win over Willem II. This win comes at the right place ahead of their schedule UEFA Champions League semi-final match against Tottenham in Amsterdam.

This trophy win in KNVB Cup suits a perfect warm-up match for their home leg UCL semi-final against Tottenham on Thursday morning in India.

The Dutch league leaders thumped Willem II with a 4-0 victory at Feyenoord’s De Kuip Stadium.

Coming fresh off with their 1-0 win in the first leg of UCL semi-finals against Spurs FC, Ajax FC defender, the Ex-Manchester United player Daley Blind opened the scoring on the 38 minutes.

Former Schalke FC striker Klass-Jan Huntelaar bagged a couple of goals adding 2 to make its 17-goals tally for the season and Rasmus Nissen added the fourth on 76 minutes.

For the Ajax captain Matthijs de Ligt, the19-year-old Barcelona loanee is hopeful that it is not their first silverware as they are in contention for two more silverware with i.e. domestic league title and of course the biggest of them the Uefa Champions League.

The Ajax captain told Fox Sports: “We won the first possible trophy. This win will give us even more motivation for the game against Spurs.

Huntelaar who has been the second fiddle for Ajax considering the Southampton transferee Dusan Tadic form says the club now has a real taste for winning trophies again.

The 35-year-old forward quoted: “it’s beautifully to win a trophy again but we want to win more.

“I think I will drink a small beer on this one though.”

Manager Erik ten Hag has been the manager of this club for only 18 months and has won its first managerial title.

He said: “This team is very happy but they want more. That’s what all the players say as well. After winning this trophy we are even more hungry.”
