6 India-American Students Win US National Spelling Bee Competition

Key Highlight: For the first time in the history of the competition, more than 2 champions have been named Washington DC. 6 Indian-American students out of the eight winning participants have taken more than $ 50,000 in cash and prizes after an unprecedented night at the Scripps National Spelling Bee Competition. And what astonishing is that for the first time in this game’s history, more than 2 co-champions have been named.
Rishik Gandhasri 13 from California, Shruthika Padhy 13 from New Jersey, Abhijay Kodali 12 of Texas, Rohan Raja 13 from Texas, Sohum Sukhatankar 13 from Texas, Saketh Sundar 13 from Maryland, Rohan Raja 13 from Texas, Erin Howard 14 from Alabama, and Serrao 13 from New Jersey all 8 were named as co-champions. Each of the students will honor with the winner’s prize of $50,000 in cash. The Competition was taken place at the Gaylord National Resort in National Harbor, Maryland and every year broadcast on ESPN in America.
The competition started off on Tuesday with the biggest arena ever and about 564 contestants ranging from 7 to 14 (years) participated in this competition. Canada, Ghana, and Jamaica are the other countries that participated in this competition. "Champion spellers, we are in uncharted territory," official pronouncer Jacques Bailly said. "We do have plenty of words remaining on our list, but we'll soon run out of words that can possibly challenge you, the most phenomenal assemblage of super spellers in the history of this competition," Bailly said.
