JEE Advanced toppers prefer IIT-Bombay over NIRF rank-1 IIT-Madras,says the report

IIT Madras in spite of being the rank one holder in NIRF ranking,yet again failed to be the top choice of JEE Advanced students. IIT Bombay for sixth year straight has managed to get most students from top 100 rank category followed by IIT-Delhi and after these two only few topper selects IIT-Madras. 

 

From past six years, this year too, the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced toppers have also opted for the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay(IIT-B). According to the survey out of the top 100 rankers of JEE, as many as 64 have chosen for the IIT-B.The second choice was IIT-Delhi with 33 out of the top 100 opted for it.India’s top ranking institute, according to National Institute of Ranking Framework(NIRF) IIT-Madras has got only one student out of the top 100 opting for it even of having NIRF rank -1.

Even last year, out of 50 toppers, as many as 47 opted for IIT-Bombay and rest three opted for IIT-Delhi. And while from top 100 rank holders in JEE Advanced 2018, a total of 59 out of top 100 opted for IIT-Bombay, 30 for IIT-Delhi and six for IIT-Madras. But this year IIT-Madras only got one topper from top 100 which is a decrease of five compare to last year despite of the climb in NIRF ranking 2019.
