Our world is going through major ecological imbalance which is unquestionably a death warrant not only for this generation but for the coming generations as well which suffer if any serious action is not taken right now. Greta Thunberg, schoolgirl (age 16), a resident of Sweden began protesting outside the main Swedish Parliament building in Stockholm about the need for immediate action to combat climate change and has since became an outspoken climate activist. She alone started the protest last year in August and stood with a banner reading Skolstrejk för Klimatet or School strike for the climate. Her personal movement against the climate change gave her international recognition and by December's at least 20,000 students all over the world have been inspired to join the protest.
Recently, the Government of United Kingdom officially declared a state of climate emergency becoming the first country to do so becoming an example worldwide and called for 'real action'. The state of emergency was one of the key demands of the environmental group 'Extinction Rebellion' which is a socio-political movement which uses non-violent resistance to protest against climate breakdown, biodiversity loss and the risk of human extinction and ecological collapse. Greta Thunberg had also called out on the U.K. government for neglecting climate degradation by her statement, " very special. Not only for its mind-blowing historical carbon debt, but also for its current, very creative, carbon accounting." After United Kingdom, the government of Ireland became the second country to declare 'climate change' as an emergency.
Keeping in mind the response, it is being said that many countries will start declaring climate change as an emergency and that a new revolution towards the safety of environment will take place. Our world had already started dying the day we had started ignoring for its well being, but it's high time now that we start taking the subject of Earth degradation seriously as the future of our next generations lies on our hands.
