MS Dhoni was spotted with wicketkeeping gloves in their World Cup opener against the South Africa that looked like have a military insignia.
Southampton, UK:
MS Dhoni incites quite a response from social media when he put on his wicket keeping gloves having an army insignia on it during the world cup opener on June 5. Lots of folks applauded this gesture but the International Cricket Council was bemused by that and had asked Dhoni to remove it off from the gloves. However, the Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) comes to the Dhoni rescue stressing he would not remove the insignia. BCCI CoA chief Vinod Rai told that Dhoni would continue to war that insignia sign on his gloves because it was not a military sign.He also added that the BCCI has taken the permission of the badge form ICCI.
During the match against South Africa at Southampton, Dhoni’s green colored wicket gloves were embedded with a dagger style logo matching similarity to the army insignia logo.
"The BCCI had already sent a formal request to the ICC for clearance. As per ICC regulations, players can't sport any commercial, religious or military logo. There was nothing commercial or religious in this regard as we all know," Rai told PTI over the phone.
"And it is not the paramilitary regimental dagger that is embossed in his gloves. So Dhoni is not in breach of ICC regulations," he added.

The CoA chief message comes after the ICCI request to the BCCI for the removal of the sign from the gloves breaching rules of forbidding the display of messages related to political, racial or religious activities.
