Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams free of any VIP darshan

On Wednesday, authorities of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) decided on the elimination of any classification for darshan. There will be no VIP category in the darshan system.Y.V. Subba Reddy, Chairman of TTD told the media that this decision was made in order to rule out corruption from the holy place and to promote the importance of the ordinary pilgrims. As per the judgment, there will be no discrimination. Every person will be treated equally, there will be no VIPs who will get advancement in darshan. The decade long practice of giving embellished treatment to the VIPs was meant to meet its end one day or next. The new set of protocols will be needing certain amendments to fit with the requirement of the present day. The new system enabled with the new set of the protocol will be into force in a couple of days.

As of now, there is no number given for the number of tickets issued each day for admission to the temple. It is totally on the TTD officers appointed to give the ticket. This subject should have an appropriate rule. The number of tickets should be decided day today on the basis of the turnout of pilgrims. The management is seeking ideas and is open for everyone to come up with an alternative system for smooth and fast darshan. Each day almost three hours were wasted aiding the fast darshan of the deity by the VIPs which was not just to the ordinary pilgrims. To all these Mr. Reddy also added that there is no need of having an office for the chairman.
“I have never asked for any camp office, while so, how can anybody sanction it,” he asked.
“The construction of the temple is on at the capital city and all that I have asked is to set up an information centre on similar lines with those existing in Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai and other important cities. I will not waste even a single ‘pie’. Even the flight charges are borne by me personally. While so, how far is it fair on the part of Nara Lokesh to level baseless allegations against me? I have not gained a back door entry like him and his father N. Chandrababu Naidu. Ordinary pilgrims are my priority and shall always remain so,”he said.
