Death penalty for sexual offences against children

The Union Cabinet have waved a green flag for the addition of death penalty to the POCSO Act. The death penalty is decided for sexual abuse forced of children.

The Bill seeking for the agreement over the amendment was brought to the table earlier also, but could not get passed through it as the government was dissolved in May 2019. However it was again brought to the light and this time it withheld the votes on its side and was finally signed as approved.

The amendment included various penalties for sexual assaulter of children. The penalties now include death penalty. It also allows the authorities to charge fines and jail terms for thecrime of child pornography.

The Protection of Children and Sexual Offence Act 2012, will now include a new amendment after getting approved by the Union Cabinet.​
